A Burmese model was found dead with multiple stab wounds in a rented home in Thailand.

Ei Mon Htwe, 35, was alone when the alleged attacker slipped into her second-floor room in Bangkok.

The suspect was said to have stabbed the tenant repeatedly before taking cash and a phone from her belongings.

As Htwe collapsed on the floor, the intruder reportedly washed off the blood in the bathroom before escaping through the rear balcony and into the nearby forest.

The apartment owner called police on June 10 after detecting a foul smell coming from Htwe's room. He looked through the windows when she failed to answer repeated calls, only to discover her lying in a pool of blood.

Police arrived at the three-storey building and found the room locked from the inside.

They opened the door with a spare key, finding Htwe's bloated corpse lying face-down on her pillow. She allegedly suffered seven stab wounds to her neck, chest, and torso.

The place was covered in flies, and a pool of blood was on the floor with splatters staining the walls. Bloody footprints were also found near the body.

Officers said they found signs of a struggle in the bathroom and on the balcony, where a bloody mop and a shoe believed to belong to the suspect were recovered.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Thirayu Wongsingh of the local police station said investigations were ongoing to determine the alleged killer's identity.

He said: 'Witnesses reported that the deceased was last seen on June 8, 2026, at approximately 6:00 pm. Following the incident, police cordoned off the area to collect evidence and are currently questioning witnesses and reviewing CCTV footage. The police are collecting relevant evidence to expedite the investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice.'

Neighbours claimed they did not hear any screams or calls for help before Htwe's body was discovered.

The apartment owner's brother, Winai Mokya, 69, said Htwe, pictured modelling traditional Burmese attire, normally kept to herself and had been living in the apartment for more than two years, receiving occasional visits from her female friends.

He said: 'Htwe had previously been robbed by thieves several times. Around 5,000 baht in cash was stolen during the first break-in, while another 3,000 to 4,000 baht disappeared in a second raid, leaving only loose coins behind.

'This time cash and her phone are missing, but I don't know the exact amount.'

He added the last time he saw Htwe was on June 7, while she was running her regular errands.

Officials said the deceased's body has been sent for a post-mortem examinaton at the Department of Forensic Medicine at Siriraj Hospital.

Lieutenant Colonel Thirayu said: 'We are currently awaiting forensic test results from the Forensic Science Division, along with the autopsy results from forensic doctors, to confirm the exact cause of death and to support further legal proceedings.'
