Swedish fugitives 'wanted over violent crimes and drugs' arrested in Thailand

Two Swedish fugitives wanted for violent crimes and drug offences were arrested in Thailand.

The suspects, identified only as Kevin and Alex, had been living the high life in the tropical country when they were caught at a luxury condominium in Bangkok.

Police raided the property on Sunday, August 23, following intelligence from Swedish authorities that the pair were wanted individuals.

Kevin, branded a 'dangerous criminal' in his home country, was accused of attempted murder, extortion and aggravated arson. He was also allegedly linked to several other murder cases.

While Alex had a criminal record for receiving stolen goods and drug offences. He had also allegedly escaped a prison sentence before completing it.

The tourists were said to have been hiding on Koh Samui island, with Alex helping Kevin evade authorities by booking rooms and arranging food as he frequently changed accommodation.

Police traced them to the Rama 9 area of Bangkok. They raided Kevin's room and found Alex hiding inside. Both were then arrested.

Officers also seized three mobile phones and credit cards believed to be linked to the suspects' activities.

Investigators said Kevin had entered through Suvarnabhumi Airport on May 17 under the 60-day visa exemption scheme. He later extended his stay at Surat Thani Immigration until August 14, but allegedly remained in Thailand after his permission expired.

Alex entered Thailand through Phuket Airport on November 11, 2025, but his permission to stay expired on February 8, 2026.

Police Major General Chutharet Yingyongdamrongsakul, commander of Immigration Division 6, said the pair were informed of the charges against them and their legal rights before being handed over to an inquiry officer.

He added: 'Once the legal proceedings in Thailand are concluded, both of them will be deported back to Sweden.'
