Police raid home selling fake branded Japanese motorcycle helmets online

Police raided a house in Thailand selling fake Japanese motorcycle helmets online.
Economic Crime Suppression Division (ECD) officers searched the property in Nakhon Phanom, following complaints that counterfeit 'Arai' motorcycle helmets were being sold on Facebook at below-market prices.
The investigation began after a brand representative made a test purchase and confirmed the helmets were fake.
Police stormed the home on October 20, where they found dozens of the headgear bearing the trademark of the well-known Japanese brand displayed on shelves and inside cabinets throughout the house.
They arrested the seller, Warin, 30, and seized 25 counterfeit motorcycle helmets.
Officials said the helmets were made from substandard materials and failed to meet quality standards, potentially putting riders at risk of serious injury or death.
The suspect allegedly admitted that the helmets belonged to him and that he had been selling them online without authorisation from the brand's official distributors or importers.
Police Major General Thatphum Jaruphat, ECD commander, said: ‘We handed the suspect over to the inquiry officer to be charged with possessing goods for sale bearing a counterfeit trademark belonging to another person and registered in the country.'
