Police fire at car tyres as rampaging Kazakh woman 'crashes into multiple vehicles'

This is the dramatic moment police fired at the car tyres of a rampaging Kazakh woman as she allegedly crashed into multiple vehicles in Thailand.

The 30-year-old suspect blocked traffic with her SUV along Thep Krasattri Road on holiday island Phuket, on June 20.

Police arrived at the scene near a pier, where the woman had been parked for more than 20 minutes.

Motorists complained she caused traffic by blocking a U-turn slot with her silver MG SUV.

But when police approached, the woman reportedly sped away, sparking a police chase across the island.

Authorities said officers coordinated with nearby stations and chased the vehicle for several hours. During the operation, police reportedly fired at one of the car's tyres in an attempt to stop it.

Footage shows gunshots ringing out on the road as police surrounded the woman's car.

The pursuit ended at the old Phuket International Airport intersection at around 8 pm local time, when the woman crashed into a motorcycle and a van.

Two people were injured, including the Kazakh driver, and were taken to Thalang Hospital for treatment.

Police said the woman faces charges including reckless driving causing injury and property damage, while further investigations are ongoing.

Police Colonel Salan Santisasanakul, superintendent of Sakhu Police Station, said the suspect was previously involved in another disruption at Phuket International Airport on June 18, when she allegedly parked a vehicle across exit of a car park, blocking traffic.

He said: 'She claimed she was experiencing stress and depression from relationship issues with her partner, leading her to lock herself inside the vehicle.

‘We stepped in to provide assistance and negotiate, safely extracting her from the car before escorting her to Sakhu Police Station to calm her down.

‘We also coordinated with relevant agencies to provide care in accordance with standard procedures.

‘However, this latest incident ended in an accident with two people injured.

‘We are currently proceeding with legal action, alongside thoroughly investigating the causes and circumstances.'

The island of Phuket's combination of idyllic beaches and colourful nightlife has seen it become one of the most popular holiday destinations in the world.

However, the influx of tourists has caused a surge in violence, depravity and petty crime - with many locals now regretting throwing open the doors to boost the economy.
