Police busted five illegal foreign workers at a Chinese construction site in Thailand.

Immigration police raided the China West Construction Group (Thailand) Co Ltd in Rayong following tip-offs that foreign nationals were allegedly working illegally at the site.

Officers from Immigration Division 3 stormed the premises on August 20, and found five people allegedly breaching immigration and labour laws.

Five suspects, two Chinese nationals and three from Myanmar, were allegedly employed without valid work permits. Two of them were additionally charged with illegal entry into Thailand.

All five were arrested and handed over to investigators at Nikom Phattana Police Station in Rayong for legal action.

Police said the raid was part of an ongoing crackdown on foreigners illegally entering or staying in Thailand to work without permission.

Police Major General Songprod Sirisukha, commander of Immigration Division 3, said: ‘This operation is part of proactive measures to prevent and suppress offences committed by foreign nationals, particularly illegal entry and stay in the country, as well as working without a permit or outside the permitted conditions.

‘We will continue to conduct thorough inspections, and if anyone is found violating the law or engaging in acts warranting the revocation of their permission to stay, their right to remain in the country will be revoked in every case.

‘We are currently expanding our investigation to inspect employers and related parties and prosecute them for offences related to hiring or harbouring illegal foreign nationals, including employing them beyond their permitted rights.'
