Jilted boyfriend stabs Chinese tourist, 20, to death when he catches him in bed with girlfriend
A jilted boyfriend allegedly stabbed a Chinese tourist to death when he caught him in bed with his cheating girlfriend.
University student Thanachod Sripanpech, 20, was visiting his girlfriend Kanyarat Pooklang, 21, before class when he found her naked under the sheets with Chinese man Cao Ke, 20, at her apartment in Chonburi, Thailand.
The enraged boyfriend allegedly threatened the stranger with a knife to intimidate him but a struggle broke out when Cao tried to fight back.
Terrified Kanyarat was injured as she attempted to stop the pair from wrestling over the knife.
Thanachod eventually overpowered his love rival and regained possession of the weapon before allegedly stabbing him to death.
He fled from the scene before police arrived at 7:10 am local time on August 8.
Officers found Cao lying lifeless in a pool of blood, with items scattered across the bedroom. He was wearing a white shirt and black shorts and had suffered several stab wounds, including injuries to his left chest, right forearm and right hand.
Police cordoned off the room while forensic officers collected evidence.
An injured Thanachod, who had multiple abdominal wounds, later surrendered to police after learning the Chinese man had died.
Police said he was detained and charged with intentional murder.
During questioning, Thanachod said he was returning to his girlfriend's apartment after working overnight as a security guard in Pattaya.
He added that he was shocked to find an unfamiliar man in bed with her. He claimed he did not intend to kill the tourist.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Adisorn Kobkoy of the Najomtien Police Station later staged a crime reenactment.
The suspect retraced his steps and led them to an overgrown wasteland near the apartment, where police used metal detectors to recover his folding knife.
Cao's furious family were also at the scene. They tried to attack Thanachod before he was bundled back into the police vehicle for safety.
The investigator said: ‘We have taken the suspect into custody and will proceed in accordance with standard procedures.
‘We are expediting the questioning of witnesses, reviewing CCTV footage, and gathering forensic evidence to pursue further legal action.'
Police said Kanyarat had allegedly been having sex with Cao despite having a boyfriend.
The two-timing woman said she worked at a hotel where Cao occasionally visited.
The pair had reportedly been flirting with each other for around two months before Cao visited her room at around midnight.
She claimed they talked and fell asleep before Thanachod arrived the following morning.
During interrogation, Kanyarat appeared distressed and was speaking incoherently. Officers took her to hospital to be treated for hand injuries.
