A drug dealer was arrested allegedly with 200 meth pills on his 22nd birthday, before his tearful girlfriend arrived with a birthday cake moments before he was jailed in Thailand.

Withawin, 22, was allegedly buying narcotics for resale when he was arrested in a police sting in Suphanburi on October 15.

Undercover agents arranged the operation following a tip-off that a drug transaction was planned outside a petrol station along Don Chedi-Si Prachan Road.

Cops staked out the area before they spotted Withawan arriving on a motorcycle, matching the description of the suspect.

When officers approached him for a search, he allegedly resisted and tried to flee but was quickly subdued.

A blue plastic bag containing 200 methamphetamine pills was seized from him.

Withawan initially denied owning the drugs, but later confessed to arranging the sale after being grilled by police.

He claimed he had bought the pills from an acquaintance and intended to resell them for profit.

He was charged with possessing a Category 1 narcotic for sale before being handed over to investigators for further legal proceedings.

Before being taken to his cell, Withawan's girlfriend and a female friend arrived at the station with a mini birthday cake.

Footage showed the tearful women singing Happy Birthday to him as they tried to stifle their sobs. His girlfriend then hugged him before breaking down in tears.

Withawan was allowed to blow out the candles before officers detained him at the Don Chedi Police Station to face drug charges.

Colonel Nattipong Takoyai, deputy director of the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) in the province, said the arrest is part of a crackdown on rampant drug trafficking in the Don Chedi district, ordered by Suphan Buri Governor Piriya Chantadilok.

He said: 'We will continue to crack down on drug trafficking in the area and take action against those involved, especially repeat offenders who continue to sell drugs despite being caught before.'
