Drug-addicted husband stabs wife with scissors as she refuses to buy him more beer
A drug-addicted husband allegedly stabbed his wife when she refused to buy him beer.
Thai husband Thitipan Channee, 30, was reportedly drunk and high on drugs when he ordered his wife, Panicha Chaisongkram, 40, to buy him more beer in the early hours of Friday, August 14.
Sick of her partner's vices, furious Panicha took their two-year-old daughter and stormed out of the apartment on the outskirts of Bangkok.
She drove a motorcycle to their babysitter Wilai's apartment and later told her husband she had intended to stay the night there.
However, enraged Thitipan turned up shortly afterwards and started banging on the door.
Phanicha said she put her arm through a gap in the iron grilles to hand him the motorcycle keys, only for Thitipan to grab her wrist and plunge a pair of scissors into her arm twice.
The mother-of-two screamed in pain before quickly calling for help as Thitipan fled the scene.
Police said they have launched a manhunt for the husband.
Police Lieutenant Montri Nakok of the Bang Phli Police Station said: ‘We inspected the crime scene to record evidence and gather statements.
‘After this, we will coordinate with investigators to track down the husband and prosecute him on charges of assault.
‘If illegal substances are found in his system, additional charges will be added to prevent him from committing further acts of domestic violence.'
The babysitter, Wilai, said the husband had been struggling with drug addiction for a long time and the couple often argued, although their rows had never previously turned violent.
She said Phanicha regularly came to stay with her after arguments because she had nowhere else to go.
Phanicha said her husband had been heavily addicted to drugs for years and had used them as recently as a few days before the attack.
She said she wanted police to arrest and prosecute him and hoped he would receive drug rehabilitation while serving his sentence.
She added: 'I want him to quit drugs, turn his life around and eventually come back to help support our two children.'
